About Dr. Cooper

Hi there!
Thank you for taking a moment to learn more about me. I am Mekiala Evans-DeDeaux, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC Associate), supervised by Dr. Caren Cooper, LPC-S, PMH-C. I am dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion, authenticity, and care. As a Texas native, I am passionate about creating a supportive space where clients feel comfortable exploring their life experiences, building on their strengths, and working toward meaningful personal growth.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, engaging in
lifelong learning, and finding opportunities to support and uplift my community.
My Story
Life is filled with transitions, and some of the most meaningful changes can also be some of the most challenging. Whether you're adjusting to pregnancy, navigating the postpartum period, balancing the responsibilities of young motherhood, or working through life's everyday stressors, you deserve a space where you feel supported, understood, and empowered.
As a counselor, I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life's challenges with compassion, authenticity, and care. My goal is to create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where clients can openly explore their experiences, build on their strengths, and develop practical tools to support their emotional well-being.
My clinical training has provided me with experience working with diverse clients using evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and person-centered counseling. Through individual counseling, assessments, treatment planning, and psychoeducation, I help clients better understand their emotions, strengthen coping skills, and move toward their personal goals.
I am especially passionate about supporting teen and young mothers as they navigate the unique emotional, relational, and life changes that can accompany pregnancy and parenthood. Becoming a parent can bring joy, excitement, uncertainty, and stress all at once. Whether you're preparing for motherhood, adjusting to life after delivery, managing relationship changes, or balancing school, work, and family responsibilities, I strive to provide a supportive space where you can feel encouraged and equipped for the journey ahead.
