What is Postpartum Depression?

Postpartum depression is more than just the “baby blues.”

While many women experience emotional shifts after giving birth, postpartum depression is deeper, more persistent, and can impact how you feel about yourself, your baby, and your life.

It can show up days, weeks, or even months after delivery, and it can also begin during pregnancy.

This is not a sign of weakness.

This is not a failure.

This is a real, treatable mental health condition that deserves care and attention.

Signs You May Be Experiencing Postpartum Depression

Every woman’s experience is different, but some common signs include:

  • Persistent sadness, tearfulness, or emotional heaviness

  • Feeling disconnected from your baby or unsure how to bond

  • Irritability, anger, or feeling easily overwhelmed

  • Loss of interest in things you used to enjoy

  • Difficulty sleeping (even when the baby sleeps) or sleeping too much

  • Feelings of guilt, shame, or “not being a good mom”

  • Racing thoughts or constant worry

  • Feeling numb, empty, or emotionally shut down

  • Thoughts of wanting to escape or not be here

How Therapy Can Help You Feel Like Yourself Again

Therapy for postpartum depression offers a space where you don’t have to perform, explain everything perfectly, or hold it all together.

In our work together, we focus on helping you:

  • Understand what you’re feeling without judgment

  • Process the emotional impact of your pregnancy, birth, or postpartum experience

  • Reduce anxiety, sadness, and overwhelm

  • Reconnect with yourself and your identity beyond motherhood

  • Strengthen your confidence in how you show up as a mother

  • Develop coping strategies that actually fit your real life

This is not about “fixing” you.
This is about supporting you in healing, adjusting, and rediscovering yourself in this new chapter.

When should I seek therapy after having a baby?

You can seek therapy at any time during pregnancy, immediately after birth, or months later. If something doesn’t feel right, that is enough reason to reach out.

Do you offer virtual therapy in Texas?

Yes, virtual therapy is available for clients throughout Texas, including the greater Houston area.

Will therapy really help me feel better?

With the right support, many women experience significant relief from postpartum depression symptoms and begin to feel more like themselves again.
